We are so fortunate to live on Jackson Lake, with all its beauty through every season! And to have the Oconee National Forest practically in our backyard, plus 2 stunning State Parks, Indian Springs and High Falls State Park, the quaint towns of Covington, Jackson, Monticello, Madison, Juliette, and Mansfield all nearby to explore and enjoy! Life is wonderful here for all these reasons, but mostly because of all the great people who live here and share the joy, help their neighbors, and contribute to making it a great place to live. Let us know of any experiences you’d like to share with the community so we can add it to our next newsletter!
The 3rd Annual Fur Ball, benefiting the Butts County Humane Society, aka Butts Mutts, was held on Saturday, February 17th. This year’s theme was “The Year of the Dog!” Attendees enjoyed delicious food, a live band and an evening of FUN. The funds raised go to spay/neuter, vet care, and rescue of the homeless pets of Butts County. It is an all-volunteer team, led by President Linda Godin, who works tirelessly to get them into foster homes, other rescues, and good adoptive families. The efforts of this group, the Butts Animal Control staff and all the amazing fosters and volunteers have transformed the county facility from a kill shelter to a no-kill shelter within a couple of years. Thank you all for your support.
