That’s Bicycle…not motorcycle. One of the amenities of Jackson Lake is having access to hundreds of miles of rolling hills on country roads that are some of the state’s best for cycling. Our little group of age 50 plus cyclists is growing every month.
We meet at Scout Island Road and trek 15 to 20 miles with the beginners and if we choose, then go out for another 20 to 30 miles at a faster pace. Our routes go through Stark & north to Mcdonough or to Indian Springs and High Falls. All routes are on back roads with very little traffic especially since we depart at 6:30am.
For non cyclists this may seem a little crazy. However, cycling gives you a great cardio workout without the pounding and joint injury one gets from running. As an aging athlete, I personally cover 100 to 175 miles per week and this allows me to maintain a reasonably healthy weight and stay out of the doctors office. The combination of cycling, supplements and proper nutrition can allow many to get off those statins with all those side effects.
Dauset trails also has one of the state’s best mountain biking facilities as well. This is located just 15 minutes from the lake if you wish to partake. Walking is also great there.
If you are interested in riding with the group on the weekend give me a call for the details.
