Fall is in the air, and our beautiful lake is quieter and calmer! We love this time of year, the slower pace and cooler weather!
We hope you all made it through Hurricane Irma without any damage to your property! We lost some big limbs and were without power about 4 days, which really puts things in perspective. What a great place to live where neighbors reach out to help each other. Our prayers remain with those who lost so much more in Florida, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Texas from Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.
On a happier note, here are some newer happenings around Jackson and our lake!
Jackson Lake Events
Lucy Lu’s Coffee Café is now open on the square in Jackson from 6:30am to 6:30pm, serving soup, sandwiches, gourmet coffees, espressos, fresh baked pastries, fruit smoothies plus FREE wifi! Great atmosphere and worth the trip to try it out! Like them on Facebook to follow their daily specials, here!
Third Street Station Going strong as one of Jackson’s new eateries! Sunday lunch is always special, and their main menu boasts a great selection! Everything we have eaten here is fresh and tastes delicious. Our favorite thing is eating outside on their large deck! To follow their specials, like them on Facebook, here!
Bradley’s Olde Tavern – Beautiful bar running the length of the room in a historic building on the square in Jackson! Famous for their burgers! But this is a bar, and serves primarily bar style food, so you won’t find awesome salads or healthy choices here but it’s worth it to come and enjoy the atmosphere and specialty drinks. Sometimes there is live music too and games. Remember only 21 and over! Like them on Facebook HERE, for more information!

Jackson Lake History
Just like boats, the equipment that people use on water has improved greatly through the years. Some people used to make their own skis by cutting and bending planks, and using parts of tire inner tubes for bindings. Skis from Sears and Cypress Gardens later became common. Soon, life belts were required, then life vests. Equipment evolved to provide great improvements in performance, safety and comfort. These pictures were made in 1956. Even with only basic equipment, people were able to innovate and enjoy water sports.

PET CORNER
This is Angel, found wandering through a wooded area recently, and my wife was called to the rescue! We have been fostering her for several weeks now and she is healing from her physical and emotional wounds! Recently spayed, she is ready for a very loving adoptive family. She is still somewhat skittish as we believe humans mistreated her. She’s about 4 months old, playful, sweet and might enjoy another playful dog but would be also be a great only dog! If you would like to consider fostering her, or adopting her, you can find applications for both at buttsmutts.com, along with some of our other adoptable fur companions! Also be sure to Like us on Facebook for updates!
