CREATION OF LLOYD SHOALS DAM
Jackson Lake Dam, officially Lloyd Shoals dam, was the largest in America when it was finished in 1910. Over 100 feet high and 1000 feet long, it created Georgia’s largest lake at the time. The design and construction was so cutting edge that Thomas Edison was involved.
For over 100 years Georgians have benefited from the low cost renewable hydroelectric power & the recreational activities offered by the lake.
